Over 100 POWER-PAC parents and their families spent a day in the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield testifying on recess in the State Senate. Our Moms on a Mission talked to legislators about a range of children’s rights issues, including access to child care, violence prevention, and family economic security during these hard financial times.

Before the day was over, the parents had helped to thwart a bill to allow concealed carry of handguns which the parents strongly opposed, and they had passed a resolution in the Senate supporting the work of the Illinois Recess in Schools Task Force.
