Y.O.U. Seek to Build Parent Empowerment Using the COFI Model

The Youth Organization Umbrella (Y.O.U.) is seeking to pilot a partnership program with community schools in order to create parental empowerment and parent leadership development. The schools being used for the pilot program are Chute Middle School and Lincoln Junior High School in Skokie. The pilots are using the community schools and COFI’s three phase model on parent leadership development. Thus far, 11 parents have completed the training which has enabled them to gain knowledge and skills on goal setting, establishing support in order to achieve those goals, and how to use those goals to benefit the broader community.
