Parents Set Legislative Priorities: Restore Recess and Prevent Budget Cuts

57 POWER-PAC leaders met to finalize their legislative priorities (MOMs Agenda) and then, the following week, they gathered their children and families and loaded two buses to Springfield for the annual Moms on a Mission trip to meet with legislators about critical issues facing Illinois families.

Major priorities, this year, included supporting a bill to mandate recess statewide and an anti-bullying bill, as well as fighting to prevent budget cuts to schools, childcare, afterschool programming, bilingual education, and others.

Nearly 125 moms, children and other family members took this message to the Illinois State Capitol, where they spoke with 45 legislators and staff.
